Willow Green Distribution Centre occupies a 59 acre site on a prominent and strategic position in the South West of England, immediately adjacent to the M5. The Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) provides a total of 780,000sqft of ambient, chilled, frozen and bread warehouses together with resource recycling and vehicle maintenance units. When at full capacity, the RDC will service over 65 stores.
Reflective of Morrison's business wide objective to reduce its carbon footprint, the building has achieved BREEAM Excellent through the use of photovoltaics, intelligent internal and external LED lighting systems, rain water harvesting, solar thermal heating, air source heat pumps, waste heat reclamation and on-site waste recycling.
Inspiration for the design of the building came from the local craft of weaving willow, with an aim to create a landmark building for Bridgwater. This was achieved through the use of a natural palette of willow colours..
