We are delighted to announce that the LG Arena in Birmingham has been shortlisted for 3 categories of the Stadium Business Awards 2011.

 

These awards include stadiums worldwide with categories such as venue of the year, project of the year and community award amongst others.  The categories the LG Arena has been entered for are:

 

Category 1: Venue of the Year
Category 7: Customer Experience
Category 11: Sustainability Award

 

The NEC Arena was over twenty years old when in 2007 DLA were appointed to enhance the customer experience through the provision of well-designed facilities.  The brief called for a new focal point for the entrance and the integration of an adjoining storage shed to provide pre-concert facilities, including bars, restaurants and food concessions.

 

To complete the scheme the overall external landscaping was been rationalised providing improved pedestrian access routes, to create a real sense of arrival and anticipation for visitors and includes a green wall feature and a glass wall to the external terrace.

 

The project has been a true group effort, with input from a team drawn from DLA's Architecture, Landscape Design, Interior Design and Graphic Design studios.
