An Assessment Study was completed in 2010 for MODern Housing Solutions - a joint venture between Carillion and Enterprise created to bring forward the improvement of 45,000 military homes Nationwide. The Ministry of Defence have now appointed DLA Architecture as part of the MODern Team to develop proposals across two Garrison sites for a mix of 3 and 4 bedroom semi-detached servicemen's family accommodation.

 

The two phases of this comprehensive estate renewal are the Bulford Garrison Regeneration Programme, which will see the demolition of the existing 26 houses, to be replaced with 26 new build homes, and Colchester which consists of the enhancement of 18 existing homes. Each scheme will use structural insulated panels, designed to Sustainable Homes Level 4, and Lifetime Homes Standards.

 

This high standard specification will see much needed improvement in living standards for military accommodation, and will build on DLA's experience from projects at Orchard Drive, Cambridge, where we were initially commissioned to develop exemplar family housing for the Ministry of Defence.
