On 18th April 2007, Poland and Ukraine were chosen to co-host the Euro 2012 UEFA Football Championships, and the Olimiysky Stadium in Kiev is set to host the final of the competition.
The stadium was originally opened in 1923 and has undergone several renovations in its long history, including 1978 when it was refurbished and used as part of the 1980 Summer Olympics held in the Soviet Union.
DLA have been appointed by Olimiysky National Sports Complex (NSC) to prepare a detached analysis of the technical requirements of VEFA and FIFA recommendations as well as IAAF guidelines for hosting the World Athletics Championships. A detailed analysis of the stadium will also be provided to show how commercial, leisure and entertainment uses within the stadium can be provided after the 2012 championships.
