26 St James’s Square is a 1980’s post-modernist office located in one of the most prestigious Georgian squares in Central London. The property occupies a prominent position on the southern side of the square, benefiting from a second frontage onto Pall Mall and striking views over St James’s Square Garden to the north and the river/city to the south.
DLA has received conditional planning permission to re-imagine this entire building through a major refurbishment. The works entail sensitive façade changes and roof extension to modernise its appearance whilst retaining its original postmodern character.
Internally there are major structural changes to provide a new core arrangement with an enhanced fire strategy, full new CAT-A services and high specification finishes throughout. As well as the activation of the Pall Mall low level elevation with a 2nd office entrance and a new self/contained flexible retail/office unit.
Our design approach is to enhance this post modern design through thoughtful material selection and precision detailing.
