DLA Architecture were commissioned by Maple Grove Developments to evolve a scheme concept for a former industrial site near the historic York centre. The redevelopment of the site sees the creation of 2no new build interventions and associated landscape, infrastructure to enhance the surrounding environs with a focus towards offering new high quality student accommodation with 326 bedrooms.
The scheme utilises brick with bronze coloured panels inset within the reveals to create visual interest, whilst relating to the existing context and its strategic position within the City of York in close proximity to the Universities.
The accommodation is based on 4, 5 & 6 bed clusters and individual studios with common room facilities at ground floor. The scheme will achieve BREEAM Very Good and achieve in excess of 10% on site renewables.
