AMBULANCE STATION : BRADFORD

Client : Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust

We were approached by the client to assist with the
options appraisal
for the
redevelopment
of the Bradford Ambulance Station. The existing station built in the 1970’s and still in operation, is in need of
modernisation
and bringing in line with the Trust’s Estate Strategy as part of the implementation of the Hub and Spoke program.

The purpose of the study was to provide the Trust with a
New Build
and a
Refurb
option for the Bradford Ambulance Station for comparison and consideration to assist with the decision for the redevelopment of the Bradford site/station. After detailed appraisal, including
intrusive
structural
surveys
, drainage, M&E and site surveys; the outcome of the report was that there was a feasible and viable refurb option that would deliver the Schedule of Accommodation and operational requirements of the new station at considerable less cost than a new build. A
detailed analysis
of both options describing the
design principles
, highlighting the main
compromises
, detailing any
phasing
and future
flexibility
possibilities were included in the study to assist the Trust with their decision on the redevelopment of the Bradford Station.
